Whether
you are a new stamper, or a seasoned pro, it's always nice to have an
organized list of rubberstamp related resources: publications, online
card galleries, paper and stamp vendors and the like. The Stamped With
Love Resource page reflects my personal favorites...places I go and
products I use over and over again. In the future, look for new links
to be added, including books I found helpful when I was just getting
started as a stamper.
Blogs I'm Currently Addicted To
- Thinking Inking (debbiedesigns.typepad.com)
Debbie Olson's artwork wows me on a regular basis. And her "recipes" have just the right level of detail. Her blog is like the sun -- without my daily fix, I feel like the day is not complete.
- Taylored Expressions (tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com/)
Taylor Vanbruggen's designs are so inviting. Beautiful color combinations and such cute ideas. Another one I have to visit daily.
- Shabbychic Junk (shabbychickjunk.blogspot.com/)
Lisa Zappa is queen of the card layout in my book. She says she creates several backgrounds at a time and then adds the focal image when she needs a card. I am addicted to her Shabby Chic style. Yep, Lisa, too, is on my gotta visit every day list.
Magazines
- Take Ten (www.stampington.com)
This magazine comes out several times a year and is filled with quick card ideas (10 minutes or less). Of course, we all know that the name is a misnomer -- YOU can make these cards in 10 minutes or less because SOMEONE ELSE spent the hours needed to figure out just the right layout and colors and image, etc. LOL!!!
- Stamping & Papercraft
This magazine is from the land "down under" and offers
lots of neat projects from beginner level to advanced. It's sold here
in the U.S. at finer stamp stores.
- Rubberstampmadness (www.rubberstampmadness.com)
This magazine focuses more on rubberstamp artists than "cute"
stampers like me. But I like to pick it up periodically because it
helps to stretch my creativity.
Rubberstamp and Paper Manufacturers/Retailers
- Addicted To Rubberstamps (www.addictedtorubberstamps.com)
This online retailer has a huge selection of stamps and accessories,
and offers prompt, friendly service. If you don't see a stamp you
are looking for on their web site, give them a call. They often can
get it for you.
- Archiver's
(www.archiversonline.com)
Beautiful papers, large stamping department. Knowledgeable, friendly
staff.
- Enchanted Cottage - Lewisville, NC (www.enchantedcottagenc.com)
Call for directions...it's well worth the trip. Large assortment
of stamping and scrapbooking supplies. They've been lifesavers when
I've had background papers that I couldn't find locally and didn't
know the manufacturer. They've nearly always been able to ID the paper
and have ordered it for me and shipped it out.
- Marco's Papers - Centerville, OH (www.marcospaper.com)
Large selection of cardstocks and other stamping accessories.
They also sell the Rollabind system. (For Rollabind project samples,
see Sue Nelson's Heartprints
site.
- Paper Salon (www.papersalon.com)
Large selection of very cute, non-complex stamps. Well suited for quick cards or mass-produced cards, such as gift card sets, etc.
- Stamp on In - Chicago, IL (www.stamponin.net/)
Great selection of both "cute" and "art" stamps and accessories. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
- Stampola.com (www.stampola.com)
This online retailer offers a wide variety of products. The stamps
are a bit more "stamp art" in design than normally suits
my taste, but I have to say their selection of cat stamps had me laughing
out loud. Especially the cat coughing up a hairball combined with
the "Hope you're feline better" sentiment. Too funny!!!
I also liked their selection of holiday themed postoids.
- The Cottage Stamper - St. Charles, IL (www.thecottagestamper.com)
What an adorable place! A nice mix of cute and art type stamps as well as paper and accessories. They sell COP/C alcohol pens which are great for shading (WhipperSnapper Designs uses these on all their sample images). Met Nancy, one of the owners, and she was so friendly and helpful. This isn't a huge store, but I was impressed with their philosophy of not just restocking images they've already sold, but rather ordering different images each time to keep the inventory fresh. They also try to introduce a new stamp manufacturer each quarter.
- The Paper Cut, Inc. - Appleton, WI (www.thepapercut.com)
Wide assortment of "cut-out" and other specialty cards.
They don't list their prices on the web site, but I got a pack of
5 pre-scored "finger" cards with envelopes for $5.50 at
the Auntie Amy show in Grand Rapids.
- White Swan Rubberstamps - New Castle, DE
It's not a large store, but has a broad selection of stamps. If
you live in the general area, make it a day trip, eat at one of the
local restaurants and walk through the beautiful historic section
of town.
